A well-balanced multidisciplinary consortium for great impact.
The consortium is composed by business model experts (RUHR Univerrität Bochum), biological and chemical researchers, test beds or Living Labs (Alcarràs Bioproductors, CeNTI, FILSE, IBF, VTT), policy and regulatory (EuropaBio), governance and social impact (LUT University), biomass resources and corresponding conversion technologies as well as techno-economic experts (SINTEF) and expert consultants in agri-food, agriculture and sustainability (Naked Innovation, AKIS International, BIOHUBCAT and Inveniam Group) from 7 European academic institutions and companies.

PROJECTS
BRILIAN has been conceived to support the adoption of sustainable, cooperative business models in rural areas and enable a better transition to bio-based economies, playing a pivotal role in revitalizing these regions and fostering sustainable economic and social development, making primary producers active actors of the supply chain.
BBioNets is a thematic network that relies on, promotes and further advances the work carried out by EIP-AGRI Operational Groups (OGs) with respect to the management and/or processing of agricultural and forest biomass with Bio-Based Technologies (BBTs).
SYMBA aims at creating an innovative Industrial Symbiosis (IS) methodology to be replicated within the EU bio-based industrial ecosystem. SYMBA will implement an AI database to create zero-waste value chains, ensure more local supply chains, a better distribution of economic and social benefits among the stakeholders and an increase in the economic value of final products.
BIO2REG aims to enable the systemic transition of greenhouse gas-intensive regions through concrete and actionable measures to become bioeconomy model regions. Running from 2024 to 2026, the project is coordinated by BioökonomieREVIER at Forschungszentrum Jülich, and involves 9 partners from 8 European countries.
NUTRI-KNOW aims at improving nutrient management practices in European agriculture. By consolidating knowledge from various EIP-AGRI Operational Groups across EU member states, it seeks to address urgent needs, challenges, and opportunities for farmers.
ShapingBio aims to create a better understanding and information basis of the bioeconomy innovation eco-system by providing a comprehensive mapping and analysis of initiatives, structures, policy instruments and key gaps across the EU macro-regions and different sectors related to 1) Policy and governance 2) Applied R&D and technology transfer 3) Collaboration (cross-sectoral) 4) Financing
Primary production in agriculture and forestry represents an essential part of the European circular bioeconomy. However, the involvement of primary producers in the circular bio-based economy is still limited. C4B business models will be designed to balance the share of power and profits across novel bio-based value chains to accelerate the development of rural communities and their economic viability and enhance the cooperation among farmers, foresters and industry.
